Clinical and Field Attendance Policy
In this program, students have the ability to choose their clinical and field experience dates through their clinical coordinator. Students will not be permitted to leave class early to attend clinical or field opportunities. Students should set their schedules so that they do not interfere with class or work. Clinical and field site opportunities are on a first come, first serve basis, so you should submit all required documents in a timely fashion so that you are able to have full access to clinical and field dates.
Clinical and fields opportunities are released to students by level, meaning paramedic students will have first pick, advanced students will have second pick and lastly EMT students will have their pick. This is due to the increasing demand for clinical and field requirements per level. As listed above, Paramedic students must complete more hours and skills than EMT students.
Remember, if you do not get your documents submitted in a timely fashion, you will miss the chance to pick the days that best fits your schedule. Failure to complete clinical or field requirements can lead to failure in the class and the inability to move forward in your program.
All students must adhere to and attend all assigned clinical and field rotations as scheduled. Students can reschedule up to two (2) field and/or clinical rotations per semester. The following are the only reasons allowed for rescheduling; change in work schedule, change of jobs, scheduled medical test or procedure, or an important family event. If a student is unable to attend due to family emergency, illness, or mandatory employment responsibilities, it is the student’s responsibility to contact the Clinical Coordinator at least 24 hours prior to missing the clinical or field rotation. If the student does not adhere to these rules, the student may be reprimanded and dismissed from the program.
