Paramedicine Technology Program Attendance Policy

The OTC Paramedicine Technology Program follows the Georgia Office of EMS guideline requiring students to attend at least 90% of all required learning activities. Attendance is essential to student success and progression in the program.

EMT and AEMT students are allowed no more than two unexcused absences per semester. Paramedic students are allowed only one unexcused absence per semester. Excessive absences will result in dismissal from the program.

Students are responsible for signing in and out of all classes and labs to verify their attendance.

Excessive tardiness could result in grade deductions, and may lead to formal counseling and disciplinary actions.
Excused absences are limited to extenuating circumstances, which may include, but are not limited to:

Death of an immediate family member
Personal illness requiring documentation from a licensed healthcare provider
Other documented significant circumstances, as approved by the Instructor and Program Director

Students are expected to schedule routine appointments, travel, and other personal obligations outside of scheduled program commitments whenever possible.

If illness or another circumstance prevents a student from attending class or submitting an assignment, the student must notify the instructor as soon as possible. The instructor will determine whether the absence may be excused and whether make-up work will be permitted. If allowed, the instructor will provide guidance on how the make-up work must be completed.
