Program Mission Statement

 

The purpose of the Ogeechee Technical College Paramedicine Technology program is to prepare competent entry-level graduates at all prehospital care provider levels in order to assist meeting the health care needs of the community. The program provides classroom, laboratory, field, and clinical training to adequately ensure graduates are prepared in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains as entry-level providers.

Program Goals

Paramedic

To prepare Paramedics who are competent in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains to enter the profession with or without exit points at the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and/or Emergency Medical Technician, and/or Emergency Medical Responder levels.

Advanced Emergency Medical Technician

To prepare Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians who are competent in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains to enter the profession with or without exit points at the Emergency Medical Technician, and/or Emergency Medical Responder levels.

Objective 1

Graduates will demonstrate competency in basic and advanced emergency medical equipment.

Objective 2

Graduates will be employable and will meet the needs of the community.

Objective 3

Graduates will possess knowledge necessary to provide patient care and transport.

Objective 4

Graduates will possess the skills necessary for critical thinking and problem solving in the emergency medicine career.
