Introduction

The Paramedicine Technology program is a sequence of courses that prepare students for positions on an ambulance, in the emergency department or in other related industries. Learning opportunities develop academic, technical, and professional knowledge, and skills required for job acquisition, retention and advancement. These programs emphasize a combination of didactic, field, and clinical instruction necessary for successful employment. Program graduates receive a Paramedicine Technology Diploma, have the qualifications of a Paramedic, and are eligible to sit for the National Registry for EMT Paramedic examination. The Paramedic Technology program is a 3-semester program. The curriculum shall include all content required by the current National EMS Education Standards.

The EMS Professions program is a sequence of courses that prepare students for positions on an ambulance, in the emergency department or in other related industries. Learning opportunities develop academic, technical, and professional knowledge, and skills required for job acquisition, retention and advancement. These programs emphasize a combination of didactic, field, and clinical instruction necessary for successful employment. Program graduates receive an EMS Professions Diploma, have the qualifications of an AEMT, and are eligible to sit for the National Registry AEMT examination. The EMS Professions program is a 2-semester program and meets two to three times weekly. 

The didactic portion of each program’s curriculum is taught at Ogeechee Technical College. The clinical and field education experiences are provided through one of partner locations. These diverse clinical and field locations allow the student to perform most skills and procedures under direct supervision of a qualified clinical or field preceptor.
