Professional Organizations

Several professional organizations have been established for individuals practicing in the field of Emergency Medical Services. Membership in these organizations is voluntary; however, students are encouraged to join and become an active member.

National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT)

Formed in 1975 and more than 72,000 members strong, the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) is the nation’s only organization that represents and serves the professional interests of all EMS practitioners, including paramedics, emergency medical technicians, emergency medical responders, and other professionals providing prehospital and out-of-hospital emergent, urgent, or preventive medical care.

Georgia Emergency Medical Services Association (GEMSA)

The Georgia EMS Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping EMTs and Paramedics who work in the State of Georgia. While others are welcome to join, our primary goal is to make life a little better for those who have chosen emergency care in the streets as their profession.
