Cell Phone and Social Media

At clinical and field sites, cell phones must be silenced if they are on your person and can only be used for course related assignments, in the event of an emergency, or while on a break. Otherwise, use of a cell phone is prohibited. Failure to abide by this rule can lead to immediate dismissal from the program. The use of social media in a responsible and professional manner is allowed while on breaks as long does not discredit, dishonor, or embarrass the OTC Paramedicine Technology program, the clinical site, patients, or other individuals including the student.

Instructors have an “Out of Sight, Out of Mind” approach to cell phones. If the device is not a distraction to the student, then it is not a distraction to the instructor. However, instructors have the right to implement cell phone policy at any point during your program. Failure to abide by that policy can result in disciplinary action being taken.
