Industrial Operations Technology - PLC Certificate (IC91)

The Industrial Operations Technology - Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) certificate program provides students with a strong foundation in industrial automation and programmable control systems, essential components of modern smart manufacturing. This program prepares learners to design, troubleshoot, and optimize industrial automation systems using programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Through a combination of theoretical instruction and hands-on application, students will gain expertise in automation programming, electrical control systems, and intelligent automation technologies, equipping them with the skills required to support industrial automation processes across various industries.

Employment Opportunities

Entry-level jobs include Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Programmer, Industrial Controls Technician, Automation Controls Technician, Sensor and Instrumentation Technician, and Smart Manufacturing Specialist. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects employment of industrial engineers, technologists, technicians, and operators is projected to grow 12 percent from 2023 to 2033, much faster than the average for all occupations. About 25,200 openings for industrial engineers are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Most industrial engineering technologists and technicians work in manufacturing industries. Most work full-time.
