New Student Orientation
Orientation is provided to new students to help transition into Ogeechee Technical College and to assist students in understanding academic, financial, and college policies, procedures, requirements, and expectations. Further, orientation is provided to enable students to make well-informed choices and promote an awareness of available resources and non-classroom opportunities. The Admissions Office coordinates the new student orientation sessions with participation from each of the support services. The orientation program also helps students adjust to technical and career education life and become aware of the physical layout of the campus.
Students are able to attend and/or complete two orientation opportunities:
- Online Student Orientation: The online student orientation is a in-depth overview of various departments on campus, policies, and procedures related to the student experience at Ogeechee Tech. The online orientation can be completed off campus or on campus in the Success Lab located in room 184 of the Joseph E. Kennedy building. There will be a final assessment at the end of the online orientation. The final assessment must be passed with a score of 80% or higher. Students may take the assessment again if they did not pass it the first time. The online student orientation is required for all new and beginning students BEFORE meeting with the assigned program advisor to get registered for courses.
- Meet Your Campus: The Meet Your Campus orientation sessions focus on campus resources and student success, and provide students an opportunity to speak to a Student Affairs team member and answer any questions they may have before the first day of class. The Meet Your Campus orientation sessions will be on campus. The dates, times, and locations for the Meet Your Campus sessions can be found on the New Student Orientation homepage.
