Eligibility-Requirements
The following criteria must be met to be considered for federal and some state financial aid:
- Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
- Have a valid Social Security number.
- Be enrolled in an eligible program of study. Have a high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) Certificate.
- Make satisfactory academic progress.
- Register with the Selective Service, if required (males only).
- Must not be in default on any federal student loan and/or owe a refund on a student aid program. Agree to use any funds received for educationally-related purposes.
- Certify that they will not engage in the unlawful manufacture, distribution, possession, or use of a controlled substance.
- Meet all other requirements of the program.
To receive state aid from Georgia, a student must also:
- Maintain legal Georgia state residency or
- Be military personnel, military spouse, or dependent child stationed in GA on active duty or list GA as home of record.
- Be granted a military out-of-state tuition waiver.
