Academic Standings

Probation & Suspension

Probation:
A student who fails to maintain the required 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) will be placed on academic probation. In order to return to good standing, the student must improve the GPA to a 2.0 or higher during the term of probation. Students are eligible to register for future semesters while on academic probation.

Suspension:
A student placed on academic probation who fails to improve the cumulative GPA to a 2.0 or higher will be placed on academic suspension. Once placed on academic suspension, a student will not be allowed to enroll for a minimum of one semester. At the end of the one-semester suspension, the student may re-enroll in classes.

If a student is placed on academic suspension, an academic appeal may be submitted to the Academic Dean over their program to request approval to continue enrollment. The appeal must be submitted and approved prior to the start of the semester.
If a student is placed on academic suspension and registration exists for future semesters, an academic appeal may be submitted to the Academic Dean over their program to request approval to continue enrollment. If the appeal is not submitted and approved, the courses will be dropped prior to the start of the semester.

Once re-enrolled, the student must improve the GPA to a 2.0 or higher to prevent an additional academic suspension.

Dismissal

*In circumstances dealing with academic misconduct or a violation of the Model Student Conduct Codes, a student may be dismissed from an academic program or Ogeechee Technical College without first being placed on probation.
