NCLEX-RN Examination Information

For Graduates Applying for Licensure by Examination in Georgia
Graduates of Georgia Board of Nursing (GBON)–approved programs may now apply for licensure by examination online. To ensure a smooth and efficient process, please carefully review and follow all steps outlined below.

Key Organizations Involved

- Pearson VUE: Administers the NCLEX-RN exam. Register here first before completing other steps.
- Georgia Board of Nursing (GBON): Reviews applications and determines eligibility to take the NCLEX.
- Georgia Applicant Processing Services (GAPS)/Fieldprint: Handles background checks and fingerprinting on behalf of GBON.

Timeline for Licensure Application
Initial Steps

1. Register with Pearson VUE

○ Visit: www.pearsonvue.com/nclex
○ Use School Code: US05100900
○ Pay exam fee: $200

Must register at least 48 hours before applying to GBON.

2. Complete and Notarize Required Forms

○ Citizenship Affidavit
○ Criminal Background Check Release Form
○ Secure and Verifiable Document (e.g., valid driver's license, passport)

3. Digitally Scan and Save Copies of all documents for online submission.

Application for Licensure by Examination (GBON)
Submit your application 2–3 weeks before degree conferral. Five days after conferral, the school will send official degree verification to GBON.

Steps:

1. Visit: GBON Online Licensing Portal
2. Select “Apply for a New License” → “Registered Professional Nurse”
3. Choose “Exam–US” as the method
4. Upload the following:

○ Notarized Affidavit of Citizenship
○ Secure & Verifiable Document
○ Disposition and Letter of Explanation (if applicable due to prior arrest)

5. Submit payment: $45
