Associate of Science in Nursing Program Overview
The proposed curriculum plan aligns with Georgia Board Rule 410-8-.04 and comprises six (6) semesters, totaling 68 credit hours. This includes 24 credit hours of general education and 44 credit hours of nursing coursework. In accordance with the Technical College System of Georgia, credit hour calculations follow these ratios: didactic content is calculated at 1:1, laboratory at 1:2, and clinical experience at 1:3 per credit hour.
All nursing courses are designed to be sequential, progressing from foundational to complex concepts. Students begin by learning to care for individual clients with common health conditions and advance to managing care for groups of clients with complex illnesses by the end of the program. The first nursing course is offered in the Spring semester each year, with students completing the program and graduating at the end of the Spring semester in the second year.
Graduates who meet all program exit requirements are eligible to apply to the Georgia Board of Nursing to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Upon successful completion of the NCLEX-RN and licensure approval, graduates are qualified for employment as registered nurses.
The Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program is offered as a full-time, daytime program only. Students must be available for in-person classes, labs, and clinical rotations Monday through Thursday. Part-time or evening study options are not available at this time. Clinical schedules may vary by site but will always fall within the Monday–Thursday timeframe. Students are expected to make necessary arrangements to accommodate this schedule throughout the duration of the program.![]()
